Wildfire Interdisciplinary Research Center

WIRC is a National Science Foundation Industry-University Cooperative Research Center founded in 2020. The Center comprises two university sites, San Jose State University and Worcester Polytechnic Institute with affiliated faculty from around the US and Europe. WIRC conducts interdisciplinary research in fire weather, fire behavior model development, fire ecology, fire management and policy, wildfire social science, WUI and materials engineering and applications, community resiliency, and firefighter safety.
